Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September 21 1983) is an American actress best recognized for her performances as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace, originally from Worthington located in Ohio dropped out high school in order to move in Los Angeles after her divorced parents divorced. In 2001, despite her difficulties with money she managed to land her first major performance in the video online series Rachel's Room as the main character. The actress was able to secure an Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 with her portrayal of the 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder set in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford played Shannon Rutherford for Lost's first two seasons in 2004 and was awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award (with the rest of the cast) along with her. After leaving the show, Grace wanted to appear more prominently in film having starred opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. In 2007, she starred in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and, opposite Liam Neeson's Kim Mills as Kim Mills in Taken. She played the same role on Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both in 2012). Grace played Shannon on the finale and in two additional episodes. Grace appeared in Californication's 6th season, which aired between 2013 and 2014. She portrays Faith who's the star-gazer and a socialite. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. As a member of the Gyllenhaal family, she is the daughter of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs as well as the elder sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. In her teens, she began to work in small roles for her father. She was also in Donnie Darko with her sister. Her next appearance was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind both in 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics in both of her roles as a lead character actress in Secretary (2002) which is which is an erotic romantic drama as well as Sherrybaby (2006). She received a nomination from the Golden Globe Award. After several commercially successful films in 2006 including World Trade Center she received greater recognition for her performance as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). In the film, her performance as Crazy Heart as a mother with a single child received her a nomination in the Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. Following that, she went on to star in comedies along with dramas, such as Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011), and The Won't Back Down (12). Other parts include acting as a Secret Service agent of the Secret Service in White House Down 2013 as well singing in Frank 2014 and as a singer as a singer in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, where she portrays the main role. Gyllenhaal composed and directed her debut film The Lost Daughter in 2021. The drama about psychological issues won the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The film was also nominated for be awarded the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
